Pollitt Signs and Graphics — Baltimore County
Hand-carved and sandblasted signs in wood, HDU, and stone, fabricated in-house in Havre de Grace since 1947 for historic districts, estates, and town welcome signs. Serving businesses in White Marsh and Baltimore County since 1947.
Carved and sandblasted signs are a Pollitt specialty, hand-carved and fabricated entirely in-house at our Havre de Grace shop rather than farmed out to another vendor. We work in high-density urethane (HDU), natural wood, and stone to create deeply dimensional, hand-finished signs — raised carved letters, sandblasted wood-grain backgrounds, and finishing options like gold leaf and hand-painted detail that a flat-printed sign simply can't reproduce. It's the same craft behind projects like the carved Havre de Grace town welcome sign, and it's what we bring to historic district storefronts, estate entrances, HOA and community entrances, and businesses that want a sign built to last for decades. Because carved signs so often go into locations with design review boards — historic districts, town rights-of-way, HOA communities — our in-house permit department handles those applications and variances for you from start to finish.
White Marsh is one of Baltimore County's highest-traffic retail corridors — the Avenue at White Marsh, White Marsh Mall, and the surrounding big-box retail centers along Route 7 and White Marsh Boulevard draw regional shopping traffic that makes sign visibility a direct revenue driver. Tenant signage coordination for shopping center landlords is a significant part of our White Marsh work: we manage consistent pylon directory panels, building-mounted channel letters, and parking lot signage packages that meet both Baltimore County sign codes and individual center management's brand standards. We've worked with tenants from national chains to local independents throughout the corridor.
All carved & sandblasted signs installations in White Marsh require sign permits through the Baltimore County Office of Planning. As a Baltimore County sign company with over seven decades of permitting experience, our dedicated permit department handles the application, setback compliance review, and any variance requests. Baltimore County's Office of Planning typically reviews standard sign permit applications in about 4–8 weeks. Larger freestanding and pylon signs, digital message centers, and any sign that exceeds the county's standard height or setback allowances usually require a variance hearing, and tenant signage in shopping centers must also match the property's approved sign criteria on file with the county. You focus on your business; we handle the paperwork.
White Marsh's shopping-center retail environment shapes how we approach carved & sandblasted signs here. Carved signage rarely appears in a shopping-center context, since tenant sign criteria almost always call for standardized channel letters or panel inserts rather than one-off hand-carved work.
