Dimensional letters and logos are cut from metal, acrylic, PVC, or foam and mounted to walls, monuments, or freestanding structures, giving your building or lobby a depth and shadow flat graphics can't match. We've fabricated dimensional signage in-house at our Havre de Grace shop since 1947, in finishes ranging from brushed and polished metal to painted aluminum and matte or gloss acrylic. Letters go up with concealed stud mounts on flat walls or cleat mounting for monument signs and uneven surfaces, so no hardware shows from the front. For halo-lit or face-lit dimensional letters, our licensed electricians handle all the wiring in-house, and our in-house permit department takes care of any permits or variances your municipality requires for exterior or monument installations.

- Dimensional letters typically run $20 to $75 per letter, depending on size, material (acrylic, PVC, metal, or foam), and thickness. Full logo sets and larger installations are quoted as complete projects once we know the design and mounting surface.
- What materials and finishes are dimensional letters available in?
- We fabricate dimensional letters in brushed and polished aluminum, painted metal, stainless steel, acrylic, PVC, and high-density foam, all cut and finished in-house at our Havre de Grace shop. Metal letters offer the most durability for exterior use, while acrylic and PVC are popular for interior lobby signs where you want a painted or gloss finish that matches your logo colors exactly.
- How are dimensional letters mounted, and can they be used outdoors?
- Yes, dimensional letters are built for exterior use. Metal and acrylic letters are fully weather-resistant, and PVC and foam letters also hold up outdoors when properly mounted. For flat walls, we use concealed stud mounts, threaded pins set into drilled holes and secured with adhesive, so no hardware is visible from the front. For monument signs or uneven surfaces, we use cleat mounting, which holds letters slightly off the surface for a deeper shadow line and easier leveling. Both methods are built to stand up to wind and weather.
- Can dimensional letters be illuminated, and do I need a permit?
- Yes. Halo-lit (backlit) and face-lit dimensional letters use LED components similar to our channel letter signs, and because we have licensed electricians on staff, all wiring and connections are done in-house rather than farmed out to a subcontractor. If your sign requires a permit or zoning variance, which is common for exterior building and monument signs, our in-house permit department handles the application and paperwork for you.
